Replacing Air Filter (Urgent !!)

I'm attempting my first proper DIY job on my Brava 1.6 mk1. I've checked the manual and removed the 4 screws to get to the air filter. However, the cover is attached to a rubber hose that leads to the engine so how am I supposed to get the cover off ?? It also extends beyond the edge of the bonnet so one way or another I can only lift it about 2cm (enough to see the air filter). In the manual the rubber hose just disappears in the 2nd diagram !! What shall I do ??

Yours cluelessly,
Richard.

Just yank it, the hose has enough give in it (or should have) to allow the lid to come off.

So I am not supposed to detach the cover from the hose then ? There doesn't seem to be that much give in the hose ...

Theres no reasson not to disconnect teh hose, but even then its a pig to get of cos its partly under the wing.
But yeah take the hose and yank the lid!

OK I've done it now thanks. The problem was that one of the two long bolts had a crossed thread so would not come out and therefore I did not have enough room to maneuvre. Anyway I did it and found half a tree in the air filter so am glad I persevered.

Thanks.
