ive decided its going to be easier for me to put on a new wing rather than pushing out the dent in it. reason being that the dent sits along the styling line of the uno and so pushing it out would leave it crinkled anyway and so would need filling and spraying, so i might as well just get a new wing and spray that instead.

only prob is fitting.

Ive been told that the wings and just glued and bolted on, not welded. is this correct?

also, how do i actually go about it? guessing it would be best to take off the bumper/indicators and so on. but then where are all the bolts? and how tough is the glue? would i just be able to yank the old panel off once its unscrewed or will i need to cut along where the glue is (tricky).

and refitting, do i need to glue it or will bolts do?

mate, they are just bolted on with a run of seam sealer. just unbolt all the bolts and the wing will putt off with a bit of persuasion.

as i can can remember, theyre bolts on the top under the bonnet, one behind the headlight and one where the door opens( bit fiddly)

good luck!

James and I tackled the front wings on a Mk2 Uno. We found it best to use a sharp knife (the type with the snap-off blades) and cut from inside the wheelarch (obviously, remove the plastic wheelarch liner first).

You'll need a deep 10mm socket for the single nut halfway between the door hinges, inside the car.

Don't worry too much about cutting around the top corner (near the windscreen) - the space is filled with a sticky grey goo which seems to pull away OK. The main cutting is required at the joint with the slam panel (the panel that runs across above the headlights) as there seems to be a different kind of glue/sealant used here. The rest of the wing top edge has only a thin bead of a softer sealant.

Good luck!

i've got to change my wing to. look what some jerk did to my uno while it was parked almost 1m away from the road  anyway i got the wing very cheap, and the same color so there is no problem. i've marked all the bolts on the picture :)

 that poor uno!, are you changing the door also? did you report it to police?

i didn't find the same color door so i will just fix it and my friend will respray them :) i didn't know what happened then some people came and told me that my car is damaged. he was long gone by the time i got to my car. but people saw him and when the police came they told them and they went to his house. the irony is that he didn't have registration so now we have to sue him :bang:

I recently did a new wing on my Mk2. It was just bolted on with sealer.

Mk1 wings are slightly different. They have a couple of spot welds to the front crash pannel. Nothing major, just drill them out.

ToMi` Your diagram is missing one nut, about half way up the wing by the door, you access if from the inside, you will need a deep 10mm socket to get at it.

Good luck fixing that door...

Yes, you need to remove the plastic trim to get to the bolt missing in the diagram.
