Fitted a used climate control panel and then the milage flahes on the display. What I didn't know is that for some reason these seem to need proxy alignment. I have multi ecu scan and have carried out the alignment procedure but it doesn't work. Anybody help me ? Should these displays need to be proxy alligned if the unit is the same ? Thx muchly

It should seem obvious that they do need to be proxi aligned.
The modules all around the car need to know how to communicate with each other this is what the proxialignment does it tells all other modules that this is the climate control unit and this is how to address it on the network.
Is the new climate module definitely from the same year and model of stilo, as one thing that can cause it to fail is if the part is much newer than the car, the car has never been fitted with the software within the modules needed to address a much newer mode of climate unit.
The other possibility is that, often proxialignments can fail or be very temperamental so it might mean you need to try it many multiple times and fiddle about with things before it finally works.

Thx 4 your reply. Old module did not respond to some of the buttons being pressed, even after cleaning with electrical contact cleaner from inside. Also the digital display had many picsals also missing. The fan was stuck on as that was a button that didn't work. New panel works but dash flashes. Car does have a flap fault. Thx again

The flashing mileage means the proxy alignment has not completed successfully.
On the Stilo the climate panel is a CAN node, so even if it is the same type it still needs to be synchronised with the Body Computer.
However you mentioned the car already has a flap fault. If the climate control ECU has active errors (flap motor / position faults), it sometimes refuses to initialise properly and the proxy procedure can fail or the mileage will continue flashing.
I would suggest connecting to the Climate Control ECU in MultiECUScan, checking for stored errors and clearing them first. If there is a flap motor fault still present, that will likely need fixing before the proxy alignment will complete.
Also make sure the replacement panel is from the same Stilo version (manual vs automatic climate).
Run the proxy with ignition ON, engine OFF and a fully charged battery.

Also, Stilo is quite known for the temperature blend flap shafts cracking inside the heater box. When that happens the motor still turns but the flap does not actually move to the expected position. The climate ECU then keeps trying to calibrate and can store position faults.
In those cases the proxy alignment sometimes refuses to complete because the climate node cannot initialise correctly.
If you run actuator tests or a calibration in MultiECUScan you might notice one of the flap motors not reaching its end position or the values jumping around. That usually points to the flap shaft problem rather than the control panel itself.
