I have just got a new punto sporting, i took out the factory fitted head unit, to find that the old head unit had 3 ISO connectors insted of the useual two, After i had out the main two into the new haedunit, The standard sub-woofer didn't work. I can imagine that the third connector is for this, doese anyone know what each wire is for in the third ISO then i can manually wire up the sub ?

Cheers

Andy

hi there i am in middle of changing my head unti and having problems arghhh but i think i can help you out anyway. the extra iso block is a blaupunkt thing instead of rcas . it is actually three lil block joined together and it should have wires comming out of the end peice drivers side of the car as you sit in seat and look at it. i have a blaupunkt manual here so has wiring thing in back . the top 2 wires are looking at them from nearest to drivers seat is line out LR and line out RR bottom 2 are line out LF and line out RF. middle wires if there is any are ground and +12v amplifier switch it sais here. with the 12v ine being teh one nearer the midle of senter of teh big block. let me kknow if that dint explain it enough. also i am taking this from blaupunkt stereo manual soo assume its corect as fiat has blaupunkt as standard fit

Brill, i like you said, fiat have messed up the wireing, however if i know that all the wires are just standard cables i can take a feed of my head un unit.

thank you,

hi there i got mine all sorted now. i was getting this wierd noise in my sub and one speaker when i turned ignition on. turns out that the fiat sub in boot is powered by the elec arial wire lol wierd. but main thing that was making the noise was that row of extra connectors that you will find. the one with just the 4 wires at one end as soon as i pulled that from new stereo it worked great. just left them ones hanging. also amongst the power block wires they seem to have 2 12v and 1 ignition not sure why 2 12v. i disconnected one as wasnt needed. also i had to move the ignition wire as how fiat had wired it up it now lined up with my sub out pin on back of head unit.

the thing is tho, my head unit only has, spekaer (high levi) X4 and 2X RCA out (low levil) it dose not really have a sub out on it, any ideas what each indevidual wires do by colour ?

hi pepe, well i know the block you mean has 4 wires in i belive and is extra on top of the normal iso connectors.

i have just finished getting my new stereo working and i can tell you now that you dont need them wires. i have not even connected them up have just left that block out. i dont know what they all do but i know that 2 of them were used by the onboard computer to check that you had put in the correct radio code. also i did have this block conected up at one point and it caused interference in rear speakers.

now as for the sub. you do not need a stereo with sub out. i thought you did and made sure my new one had this BUT i dont even have the sub out pin wired up. again i have left this disconnected.

You must check your wiring as like i said in earlier post fiat have them in different places to were they should of been. as a result i had to alter the wiring to my iso block.

the top block is fine that is just speakers FR+- RR+- FL+- RL+- this block you can just put in. the other block is the problem.

i am doing this from memory but there are 2 12v they are slightly thicker than most and are red/black and Red/white the ground wire is the thickest its black, ignition wire if i remember correctly is grey and green. these are the colors i can remember. there is also the auto antena wire, illumination wire and mute and mure ground.

remember the sub in boot is actually powered from the auto antena (elec ariel) pin. it had a built in lil amp and recives the signals from the normal rear speaker wires i belive.

the last 4 wires as i said above i cannot remeber the colors but i can describe wich one they are. on the bottom ISO the earth (black) is in the corner. next to that is the illumination wire then its one of the 12v wires(red/white) then its mute ground. now the top row of wires are as follows. above the earth in the corner is the second 12v wire (red/black), next to that is the auto antenna wire. next to that is the ignition(grey/green) then its the mute wire.

i hope from this you can work it out. also if you look at the top of the factory fity stereo there should be a lil sticker with wiring diagram on it.

any more questions just ask will try and help.

thank you, for helping me fish dude, sorry to bug you again, my only question is. do you know weather the inpust for the speakers on the sub are high or low levi, (eg could i connect an low levil rca out of the head unit to them?

hi pepe, well not really sure about what low level and high lever are lol but the speakers in my mk2 punto are only connected up via the standard speakers out on back of the stereo (iso block) havent used rcas.s soooo hopefully that will tell you.

as a side note. the extra connector blocks blue green yello ones are used by blaupunkt only and one of them is for rca outs. they sell this adaptor thing that you plug in and turns em into standard rca out. but that just for blaupunkt head units.
