Replace OEM stereo in 2013 Panda

Just taken delivery of a brand new 2013 Panda 1.2 Pop - one of the reasons for getting the basic spec is I have a decent Sony MEX stereo that I used in my previous car, so I planned to replace the factory stereo with the Sony.

So far, I've found a fascia adaptor for it, so the Sony unit can slot in, but I can't find any information about any adaptors needed for the wiring to connect the Sony into whatever is in the back of the factory stereo. No info at all on Google / ebay/ autoleads' catalogue / etc. Does anybody know what's available/required?

Also, I can't find a guide about the correct way to remove the existing stereo, which looks pretty securely put in place, so I'm reluctant to try removing it using guess work and brute force... has anybody done this?

I think you're going to be almost on your own with this being a fairly new model still.

Once removed check the wiring diagram on the OEM head unit and make sure you don't reconnect the CANbus system and you should be ok, might well be plug and play.

Okay, so the OEM stereo does come out using regular stereo removal keys. You only use one end of each pair, bending the other end out of the way (unless you want to carve deep scratches onto the fascia).

Wish I could replace the OEM Headunit in my APE, but it's all part of the dash. Booooo

Anyway, I have the replacement fascia and a Mutant DAB radio but after 4 hours I could not get it to work with the wiring in the Panda. Seems to not have separate 12v pins for ignition and for battery or something. So I have it booked in with the mighty Car Radio Skipton - award winning ICE gurus, who I'm sure won't be troubled by this challenge. Also being added are upgraded 6.5 inch speakers in the front along with sound deadening, and replacing the original aerial with a DAB one, to cope with getting a good reception wherever I am. Will see how that goes and then maybe upgrade the rear door speakers at a later date.

Well, Mutant DAB radio, upgraded aerial and Hertz speakers in the front doors + sound dampening on the door skins, all taken care of by Car Radio Skipton - and it's fantastic.

DAB radio reception is excellent, only dropping out in a handful of places, which is really good considering where I am (North Yorkshire). The upgraded aerial, which is a direct replacement for the OEM item, also benefits the FM radio reception - I now get loads more stations and the reception quality has gone up noticeably.

It's a pity there isn't off the shelf support for the new Panda yet - swapping out the radio and upgrading the front door speakers on my old Megane was a piece of cake as a DIY fit, by comparison.

Anyway, next up is a small under seat subwoofer to fill out the bass and later on I may get the rear door speakers upgraded, too. I'm currently only playing out of the front speakers because the rears can't handle the upgraded head unit's power (no surprise there) and distort easily. Wonder what size they are?

Only other thing I can think of after that is possible a custom build into the A pillars for some quality tweeters.

Thanks but i mean pictures with Sony stereo. Not the orginal one. Because of the curvey shape of stock radio i am not sure if it looks good with oem one.

For reference OEM = Original Equipment at/of Manufacture.

So it's not the OEM head unit you require pics of as that's what I've added pics of above.

Yeah. I realise that but it doesn't matter. They've similar stereo.
