Wanted to just post this to vent a little frustration and happiness at the same time..

I started driving in 2008 and got insurance on my first and current car (mk2 Punto) I shopped arround for agers and finally settled on the insurer Endsleigh as they were by miles the cheapest at arround £1700.

Year 2 and my renewal was only £1080, cracking I though. My only gripe since then was that in order to modify the policy i would have to cancel it and take out a new policy loosing all built up NCB which is just wrong... Then i got my renewal through this year.. they have decided to put it up £500 to arround £1550 which makes no sense as i havnt crashed, or claimed on it.

I know insurance has gone up but wow didnt know it would be that much!

Ah well im happy that ive found another insurer, going with Admiral as they allow you to edit the policy and its £820 for 12 months :)

This isn't filling me with confidence for the time i come to renew. (n)

I know its not me either

They Need to Start inforcing a new Drivers Rules
Like only allowed to drive from 6am till 10pm Like the auzzi's :)

But insurance is hikin up due to the increasing amount of uninsured drivers out there!
So More Static AMPR camera's and More Fines through the post and car crushing please :)

That 6am til 10pm rule wouldn't be practical, how am I supposed to get back and forth to work!

Walk... Run.... Bus... Bike.... Taxi... Train... they dont care TBH...

One thing for sure... Over the next 5 years car Insurance is likely to become exorbitant if not totally prohibitive... which of course will lead to more drivers not taking out Insurance...

Just to let you all know they called me yesterday and managed to get it down to £1400, his reason for the rise was 'everyones insurance has gone up' i then agreed but still didnt like it had gone up soo much.

They are sending me my NCB letter and i am going to call admiral tonight :)

It's increasing because of all the personal injury companies making claims for whiplash etc. If your car is worth £500 then get £2000 up for personal injury even though nothing is wrong.

Well did a re-quote as my mum now has a job got it down to £769.85. Im well chuffed, this is a £1000 drop since i started driving :)
Thats a really good price! Do you mind telling me who your with? Pm me if you want lol just that im gonna need to renew kinda soon so im starting to shop around a little, also how old are you?

Andy,

please try my company on 0208 3645500, we offer a discount to Fiatforum members (y)

Ollie
Sky Insurance

Sky were better for me than Admiral which is who the OP went with to answer your question Andy.
The prices were similar but Sky do like for like replacement on mods. By the end of the year my mods will be worth more than the car so its a great deal.

I'm with a company called Footman James, my first year with them fully comp with no ncb was £652 and some odd pence, I now have 1 year ncb with them and its down over £200 still fully comp and as I have another policy from another car they said I could bring that across when it expires in February 2011 and get even further discount and would change my potential second years ncb to my potential third.
Should point out that FJ also has breakdown cover, european travel and every other cover included as standard and your not buying into a 12 month contract as such, although its yearly insurance its only paid for by the month similar to usual monthly direct debit (unless paid in full upfront) so if you have money troubles or stop driving 4 months in you can cancel your insurance and all they take is what you owe up to that day which is usually nothing as you pay for the month in advance.
You also get a tax disc holder with your first policy so if its your first car you dont have to buy one and it has a pocket with all their useful numbers in like breakdown, windscreen cover etc etc.

The only downside to the company is they won't insure anyone under the age of 25, bonus for us old farts that dont drive like hooligans though.
