Technical Removing driver's seat

Hi guys,

the seat on the driver's side looks kinda bad, it needs some sponge-refill and a sewing too. I'm talking about the horizontal part of the seat (I don't know what's the name of it, the part where you actually sit), the back of the seat is fine.

The seatback has airbag inside so I'm wondering if I have to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the cables under the seat. What if I disconnect the cables without undoing the battery first? Could this cause any problems? I heard that it can cause the airbag to explode, is it true?

Just disconnect the battery for a couple minutes before removing it to be safe?
