Hi

Somebody wants to buy the gearbox from the cinq i am breaking.

How easy/ hard is it to take it off?
And how is it done?

Cheers

Simply bolted to the block and has 2 mounting points to the chassis iirc. Disconnect clutch and gear selector linkages, seperate the driveshafts, undo wishbone to hub bolt and the driveshafts should be free from the gearbox, then drop it out - the engine and gbox both need to be supported doing this.

WooooooW way to advanced for me! lol

iirc?

where do i find the clutch and gear selector linkages?

driveshafts?

How would i support it?
Cheers

iirc = if i remember correctly.

The linkages are on the top/back side of the gearbox.
Driveshafts link the gearbox to the wheels, They can usually be seperated at the inner CV (underneath the bobbly cone shaped rubber bits on the driveshafts nearest the gearbox.)

Ideally you want to use an engine hoist to support it, but people have done it using jacks and axle stands in the past.

Ok i can do that...
Now how hard is it to remove them together,

Could you pop over to mine, after work or on lunch, Xen for a few mins to point out the main bits? im only 3 mins drive from you
Cheers

Simplest way I have found is to put the front of the car over a pallet, remove the wheels and drop the engine down on to the pallet. Remove the three mounts and lift the shell off the engine.

You need to disconnect the shafts and stuff first.

We may need some gear linkage mounts if they are not being sold.

Cheers
