What age vehicle?
Are you sure the batteries are good, only today I had one remote work and the other not on a Peugeot whilst reprogramming them following a battery disconnect and BSI reboot on a Peugeot 3008, luckily I had a spare battery for key fob?
Have you recently disconnected the battery for any reason?
On the Peugeot reprogramming was simply a case of put key in ignition turn to on but engine not running, hold any button on fob down for 10 seconds, switch off remove key and test, jobs a good un.;)
I see on uTube video a different process for some Fiats, you could try this.:-

The imobilser is not part of the button pressing part of key fob and doesn't require a battery to function , are you unable to start the car?

Well guys !.. googled it and one person said there was a yellow relay on the passenger side under the dash...I wiggled it and .. hey presto ! it works....my son had been sitting in the passenger seat on the journey home and I guess his big feet must have disturbed it .. what an easy fix !
