Remote central locking

Hi
Can anyone advice.My remote keyfob accidentaly got left in my jeans when they went in the washer.I,ve replaced the battery after drying the fob,but remote wont work.Fiat dealer says I,ll have to have the remote sensor in the roof replaced along with something else under the bonett at acost of about
£600.Any cheaper ways of fixing it.Sorry forgot to mention it,s a Brava ELX
