Remote central locking problems...

Hi,

Washed the car this avo' and then took it for a drive, everything worked absolutley fine...

Get back and attempt to lock the car but it is as dead as a dodo. Still starts fine and everything. When sat in the car you can push the locks down and the central locking works fine.

LED on remote fob works fine and batteries are near new.

Would my first port of call be the fuse box? The key seems toally fine and always has been, but now no alarm or remote central locking.
Also a bit of a pain that i am de-locked and have to climb through the boot to lock the doors!
Surely an ECU reset would be of little help?

Any help mucho appreciated.

Sounds like it'll never live again unless you buy a new receiver. However try if your spare blue key works. If it does then maybe the other key needs reprogramming.

Fiat put the receivers into the courtesy light on the Bravo and if the aerial seal leaks, it leaks directly onto the receiver, hence causing many alarm/central locking problems. This is very common. The cost to repair is approx £250.

Lets hope its not that.

You could goto Fiat and ask them to reprogam the key.

OR you can try ebay for a new unit at about 1/3 of the above..

OR NOT! Since those on Ebay are for cars that dont have central locking as standard, nor come with any sort of Alarm. Those on ebay come with seperate fobs and relays. The relay goes in the glovebox and the Fiat Alarm ones are built into the courtesy light.

But be my guest. You may buy and fit the central locking relay with an extra fob off ebay aswell but your alarm will still not work.

Had the same problem with mine, except it was dead when I bought the car.

As it's not de-locked I just used the key in door until I managed to get an aftermarket alarm fitted. Works a treat. Central locking and alarmed again.

I did try to fix it, ended up buying a new interior light with gubbings (has some alarm bits in it) to no avail. Whatever I tried, it was dead.

You can try what you can, but I suspect you'll have to fit a new system.
