i am getting conflicting figures for the remapping of my 100hp.

a tuning garage have said i will get an extra 25 / 30 hp, but the fiat main dealer only predicts a gain of 10hp...does anyone know why there should be such a difference ?

also, as you know, these cars have a sport button, so is it possible to increase the power on the sport setting only, leaving the standard setting to use for best economy ?

thanks !!

Hey bud, I'm in the same situation I think a lot of garages assume that it's got a turbo like the abarth, you prob would get 20-30bhp if it was. As it's a naturally aspirated engine I think the more reliable estimation is 10-15bhp

The 100hp can't be re-mapped as the ecu is totally locked down, the sport button sharpens throttle response and adjusts the weight of the steering to make it heavier.
thats what i thought, and initially both places said the hp wasnt listed and couldnt be done, but after making a phone call [to where/who i dont know] both said it was possible.

would the main dealer quote me a price and hp increase if it wasnt possible ?

that kind of makes sense and is in line with the main dealers forecast.

the tuning place also said there was a large increase in torque [i cant remember the figure].
i,ll have to get on the phone to them and see if they are looking at a turbo increase.

Torque I'd expect maybe 13-18 increase let me know if you get it done would be interesting to see what the actual gains are
i,ll keep you in mind, but IF i get it done it wont be for another 6wks.

im a little concerned that the MPG loss might outweigh the gain in power, as most of my driving is town work, therefore only averaging 32mpg, but on a good 15 mile run i can get 55mpg if you believe the cars computer.

"I'd be very wary of most people who say different"

not quite sure which way that is meant....

re the organ donation, nice one and very important...i have had the gift of a kidney !

There are many setting them selves up as tuning companies who will say anything to get your money, however they are some that are trusted so if one of them said the 100hp ecu has now been cracked then I would believe it.
i wasnt sure when the tuning company said it could be done, which is why i got in touch with the main dealer, so i am inclined to believe its possible.

however, if its only a 10hp increase then i cant justify the money [around £250], and thats before taking the loss of mpg into account.
the tuning company are a little less at £199.

main dealer know nothing of remapping its not part of fiats training, some sly ones have a deal with some door step mappers and get a cut when they get some one signed up.

give some one like tony at Tune4Performance a ring 01923 773002, if any one knows if it can now be done then he will.

thanks for the number, i will ring tomorrow !

As far as I'm aware, the ECU in the 100HP's engine is totally locked down and therefore you can't get more power from the 100HP with a simple remap. Even if you could get more power from a remap, being an N/A car, the gains would likely be quite small vs. the cost of the work.

Basically, if you want more power from a standard 100HP engine, you'll need some kind of hardware modification (a turbocharger would likely have the best price to performance ratio, though wouldn't be cheap).

The Abarth's Ecu can't be used as its for a Turbocharged car not N/A like the 100hp, as far as releasing more power from the standard engine your looking at replacement cams and a stand-alone ecu and even then your looking at maybe a 8-10hp gain for a large outlay in cash terms.
The most cost effective way to get more power is a turbo engined transplant which someone on this forum has done but even then they did say the car wasn't a LOT faster in real terms, my view has always been that if you want a really fast Fiat then buy one as the 100hp is fine the way it is.
