relay???

guys, i need your help again! tried to start the bravo before(1999 HLX 1.6), nothing, only clicking could be heard from under the bonnet. found the offending relay in the black box by the brake fluid resevoir. inside the box theres two plugs and a red relay, with "BO47 12v 30A" written on it. i've checked the relay and it's working fine. the questions i've got are-
1. what is it?
2. what does it feed?
3. how do i fix it?
4. how much will it cost?

forgot to mention that none of the dash lights come on either, the battery, handbrake and all the others. the only thing that has any life is the petrol gauge. this jumps up and down a few times. also the alarm doesn't work- cant open the door with the fob.
just spoke with a mechanic mate of mine, and he recomends checking the battery. over christmas the battery died on me, but it was charged back up, and had a few decent runs since then. could the battery be completly dead, causing this relay and its componedts to fail?

Sounds like flat battery to me.
especially if its ALL dead!

do any of the dash lights not flicker when you try turn it over? cos it does sound like your battery is dead.

just put a meter accross the battery, it only came up with 1.2vDC. dead!!! got a price for a new battery, £50+VAT, not too bad.

you wana try get a bosch blue top,crackin powerful batteries.and not much more expensive either.Think i paid £68 inc vat for mine (somethin like that).Depends what u want tho,you can get cheap makes that are powerful but might not lst long.

Took me ages to figure out what battery i wanted and the best for the money

cheers guys. got a new battery today, £60 inc VAT. not too bad, and with 3yrs warranty. hooked it up, it started on the first attempt. phew!!!!!

cool,glad your sorted just keep eye on your alternator cos if that plays up and kills your battery,they wont exchange it
