Reef Marine Tank

Haha nice! Can't believe you are looking for a bigger tank already, that's crazy! How much rock, in KG, do you think you've got in there? I always think that a KG of rock can't be a lot since, well, it's rock, it's pretty heavy stuff although I guess the live rock is pretty porous so might not way that much for a fair sized chunk.

Oh and the latest pic, can't be bothered uploading to photobucket first so you'll just have to click to see it.

probably around the 20kg mark id say at the moment its a fair size of chunk in their at the moment though and I got a cleaner shrimp a few days ago and he has already decided to shed his skin :)

Wow that's a beauty! What a size!

I'm not sure what it is, maybe the light you use or the stone, or maybe you natural talent, but your tanks look so good and natural, like you've just went to the barrier reef and pulled a part of it out and put it in your display. Mine looks so artificial...probably the ruins and the disco lights in all honesty haha.

So you having both tanks running now or moving everything into the new tank? I love the shrimp you have there, is that a Fire Shrimp? I saw them in Dobbies and was thinking of going for them first to see how they hold up but at about £16 a pop I'm a bit concerned that they'll die straight off and I won't have cash to replace them.

you get a blue actinic light which gives it a natural reef look to it but its a key element for the growth on the rocks aswell so its pretty much a must have and its not a fire shrimp just a cleaner shrimp as hes a fiver cheaper :) but my new local aquarium superstore has started doing marine and coral properly now so its much cheaper for me than dobbies is and its across the road :D
im just running the 1 tank now and im gonna sell the tl550 which will pay for the new tank :D

Very handy!

I have space for 2 bulbs in my tank and one is a sorta purple colour although a lot lighter than normal so I think it is just a 'night effect' bulb but they can't be controlled separately which is a bit of a pain, plus the timer doesn't work properly, damn second hand tanks.

The cleaner shrimp are pretty hardy aren't they? So if I put a couple of them in first they should survive. I just put in the filter start last night so will leave the skimmer off for a day or two then give it a week before adding them in to see. Still don't have any rocks though, almost bought plastic ones but then changed my mind at the last minute cause it didn't really make sense to drop £30+ on plastic rocks when I'm going to have to end up replacing them with real ones anyway.

do you know the size of the bulbs you have is it t5 or t8 ?? mine was t8 and was £18 and is like a UV sorta purple blue and yeah the normal cleaners are a bit hardier than fire shrimps so will see how it goes but he has just shed a second skin today so guess hes liking the size of the new tank :) also my leather coral is getting bigger and has started shedding his skin every few days at the moment so hes happy but i have now noticed the key element in these tanks which is life that you didnt put in it in the first place :D i noticed a little black snake thing crawling through the sand earlier so i have no idea what it is :D

I am sick, of these mother-fookin snakes in this mother-fookin fishtank!

I emptied my tropical tank to try and get rid of the snails but they've bloody appeared again. I need something that eats them :D

I love how you keep referring to your coral as a he! IT'S A BLOODY PLANT!!!! It's not a he or she it is an it!
