I've been quoted 120 per bumper, to get them sprayed and fitted. They said they'd do it for 90 each without fitting. However, that's still £180-and more than i wanted to pay, even though i realise that's probably tho going rate. I'm no expert, but apparently it takes 3 hours to do. I understand it takes time for coats to dry, but don't see how there's 3 hours of labour involved!

Will it reduce the price if i prepare the bumpers before hand, rub them down etc. What about supplying my own paint?

Also, is it easy enough to fit the bumpers. 30 quid seems a bit steep.

Cheers

If you cant fit bumpers then you cant fit a light bulb. Bumpers are easy to fit they only a few bolts here and there

give them a rub down and maybe prime them if you are good with a spray can, there is guides on how many coats of primer and telling you what wet and dry paper to rub them down with between coats. hope this helps

I wouldn't waste time doing that, unless you do a spot on job they'll probably just redo it all. Find somewhere else or save up a bit more.

Fitting bumpers is pretty simple, as long as you've got the tools for the job.

spraying and paint finish is all about the preperation and bumpers unless new can be a time consuming task, more so than a bonnet or wing.
I would not recommend rattle cans on bumpers as 1k lacquer is not tough and the front bumper in particular will be more prone to chipping + the finish will not be as good.

If you fit yourself, remember that you are going to have to transport them when they are freshly painted.

Just my opinion :)

bite the bullet and just pay the £120..for the sake of £30 quid fit it yourself, as above main will not have completely dried, which your gonna transport with the risk of damaging it and flushing the whole lot down the drain

Is not usually okay, to leave them overnight to dry or something, and then pick them up the next day?

Also, anyone know roughly how much CC bumpers add to the value of the car? Cheers

£180 is not a bad price.
just to spray a classic motor cycle tank and 2 side panels in 2 tone colours cost me nearly £500.
it depends what you want ****ty job or a good job.
better to let them fit the bumpers..if they damage it they'll have to do it all again at their expense and not yours.
