I have a red warning light coming on when im driving. It is a Red Exclamation Mark with Brackets round it, (!) It comes on when my handbreak is on, but when im driving it comes on whenever I turn the steering wheel to the left! It doesnt come on when i turn right for some bizzare reason.

Bought the car second hand, therefore I dont have a Manual.

Can anyone help??

Cheers

first port of call would be to check the break fluid and pads / discs

Warning

My breaks are squealing right enough, and my father in law said that I should change them, you think thats why the light is coming on then?

the light is also a wear indicator, so yes, id give them a look over with the view to changing them

its your brake pad light
best to change them asap
dotn think about leaving them for a bit
as they will scrape really badly and you will hear a really bad noise

change the pds when the light is on
if you dont you coudl affect the brake disc itself if you leave it

fittign and pads tops £30-£40

It is NOT the pad warning light, that is a different light.

The handbrake light also indicates low fluid level.

You have low brake fluid level.

Going to Change the pads at the weekend, father in law says he can help me do that ourselves.

Still cant understand why it only comes on when i turn steering wheel to the left.

Checked all fluids and they seem to be between max & min levels.

accept y pologies

yes it is correct do what he said above

again sorry m8 for the confusion

The brake fluid will move around when turning or accelerating/braking hard and in turn will trigger the sensor that brings up the light!

Top up the brake fluid and check that it isn't leaking anywhere!

personally i wouldnt advise just topping up the break fluid, id check the pads aswell, as if you just top up the fluid and your pads need replacing you will be getting false readings and i wouldnt want plenty of fluid and shot pads personally

give the break system and good once over and take it from there
