500 Red Fiat 500 S

Introduction

Hello all,

Picked up my new Fiat 500 last week, it's a 2015 "S" model with the teeny 1.2 litre engine.

She's the first new car I've owned. Previous car was an automatic diesel Skoda Superb, bit of a change! Had long fancied a Fiat 500 and when the automatic gearbox on my Skoda packed in at 100K miles, I took my chance. VAG reliability my arse, it was an absolute heap.

I love the new car, had forgotten what it was like to actually enjoy driving rather than it just being a means of getting from A to B, finding myself taking minor roads instead of the motorway, or taking the long way home, haven't done that for years!

I do a lot of miles at the moment, around 20K a year but plan to keep this car for a long, long time... I always look after my cars meticulously so hoping the Fiat will stay looking this good for a while to come.

I'll upload some pics just shortly, had tried to link to Flickr but since realised they need to be hosted in the gallery.

Hi Dave, and welcome.

The above is exactly what I found when I bought my 500. Driving had become a chore, to be avoided if at all possible, but now I look for opportunities to take the car out - it's made driving fun again.

I intended to buy a red 500S (used) when I went shopping but, for a variety of reasons, came home with a black 500C - never regretted the choice though.

I knew I'd be far from the only one!

I too was after a used 500 S, I plan to keep it for a long time, so hopefully buying new will prove to have been a wise decision 100k miles down the line...

Anyway, here are some more photos of the car.

Thanks man :)

Yeah, the 500 is interesting, the different models although all the same car have a very distinct look and feel from each other. Compare the S to the Lounge for example, very different!

I feel like the S model gives the 500 a bit more of a manly feel. Call me sexist or whatever but the lounge with the chrome etc is a bit girly imo.

To be honest your interior shot shows what turned me off the Sport that day, it's so dark in there! By the same token my Lounge has a bright and airy ambience - even with the roof closed.

"Girly", what? Nearly choked on me cornflakes. OK, I admit with its hippy flower-power decals mine may not look all that 'masculine' (I have been asked if I'm driving my daughter's car!) but otherwise with all the black and chrome it looks positively funereal. Other colours might look a little chintzy with chrome but it sets off the black perfectly.

I agree, it's definately more manly and in my part of the workd out of all the 500s I see driving around, it's blokes who seem to drive the sport.

I do find the black headlining a bit dark especially after driving an airy lounge, but the lovely chunky steering wheel and hugging sports seats are so much better
