Sorry if this is in the wrong place, made sense to me even if I'm not talking about a fiat.

Hi,

My Girlfriend has a red '02 plate Vauxhall Corsa. Now Vauxhall can't seem to make a red paint that doesn't fade. It's faded a litlle and I'm trying to rescue it back, any advice?

I polished it with turtle wax red the other day. What else could I do?

Thanks

ah the famous Flame pink Vx's

there are a few methods about as above using a mild cutting compound such as AG paint renovator or the good old red bottled T-cut ((DO NOT USE ON clear coated cars)) to remove the oxidised layers of paint if you do go down this route get a "german" applicator

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/accessories/ultimate-german-applicator/prod_280.html

once done refine the finish then seal with a wax or sealant to fend off further oxidisation

another alternative is Bilt hambers auto balm I'd clay the paint first no matter what you choose with this:

then Treat with this:

(not actually tried it on a faded red car but if this youtube clip is anything to go by.... it does give a good shine on most finishes

All reds cars fade not just vx's

Especially those that are left outsiede all the time

Look at some of the cinqs in our section

The infamous T-Cut, Machine Polish it, or abrasive polishes

And pretty much any 90's red VW/Audi/BMW

Never realised that, all I tend to see with red cars are faded VX's. i did warn her before she bought it but did she listen. Thanks, I will look into the options you have suggested to me later (on my lunch break).

I'm a bit apprehesive to use a machine polisher, scared I'll end up with swirly marks or something!

tried some autobalm this morning on a faded part of my red car, made it look like the non-faded parts. Does wear off eventually though, can't remember how long it lasted before, not been very good at waxing/polishing my car, just wash it and quick wax for some protection.
