Styling Recovering carpet - Cinquecento

My Cinquecento's carpet has some holes due to usage: driver's seat near the bottom and footrest.

Any ideas on a DIY for carpet recovery?

I don't think it's practical. There's one that looks fairly decent on eBay ATM.
