Technical Recommended Mechanic?

It's nice to get the heating working again in this weather!!! ;)
Well done for getting it sorted!
In my case it also stopped the injector light coming on.
Love my new car. Will be amazing after the new clutch is in.

Well, Roger at Power Fiat was very good. Clutch and slave plate had to be done and the car now drives really well. One of the front springs was broken so he put a second hand one on temporarily, but it will need new ones soon. I will get it done in a few thousand miles when I do the brake disks and pads. He has also recommended that I change the belts as it looks like they weren't changed when the cam belt was done.
So I have one more big bill coming my way in a couple of months..... :)

On the good news he said the car has a new rad, some new pipes and some other big jobs already done.

Top job.

Rog = Top man.

Yup. Top man who I am about to spend a lot of money with. :)

New front discs and pads
New front springs
Cam Belt + all aux belts....water pump etc.....
While the cam belt has been done, the others weren't at the same time so while I could only change those belts, it seems silly to do so. Plus if they didn't change those belts while doing the work then I doubt they were professional and I don't trust their work. Am I wrong?

The bill is going to hurt (a lot), but that should be it until the next service.

Not too sure about that.
If the cam belt has been changed, you could just change the aux belts.
On my last service,I had the aux belts changed and not the cam belt.
I plan on changing the aux belts a lot more often than the cam belt.
The main reason a cam belt will go is if the aux belts go first and take the cam belt out.

Interesting. I will speak to Roger about that. The cam belt was done about 15-20,000 miles ago so still a lot of life left in it, but I am concerned....
Also, if I recall what roger told me, it appears that all the tensioners are originals and not been changed. I'll ask him to check to see if the tensioner was changed when they did the cam belt.
The aux belts include power steering and a/c belts as well no?
Also, I think its an extra £150 to do the cam belt while doing the aux belts. I'll double check.

I checked with Roger at Power Italia and he has recommended we change the cam belt too as seeing as they didn't change any of the aux belts or tensioners, they may not have changed the tensioner on the cam belt too. He said it didn't look like someone who knew what they were doing. He will try and have a look to confirm. If it doesn't need doing then he may be able to see that it doesn't.
For peace of mind is it not worth paying the extra £150 to include the cam belt and tensioner?

Another setback in the car today. My 2 week old clutch is slipping. It's only slipping slightly, but still slipping.
The clutch pedal position has moved up again to where it was pre new clutch.
Roger is seeing the car again on Tuesday, so I hope it's nothing serious, but I suspect the clutch was faulty.
Anyone ever experience this?

Well, slave was changed with clutch. Guess I will know more on Tuesday.

Hey Guys (and Gals),

I am really happy to have been welcomed to the forum and thought I would ask if anyone could recommend a Mechanic/Garage in NW London for a bit of work to my Fiat 20VT?
I need a new clutch and probably a Lambda sensor (need to confirm with diagnostic).

As I said, I am in NW London, but I am willing to travel a little bit for someone who will do it while I wait.

Thanks in advance.

the best bloke and the only bloke i trust with my fleet of fiat coupes is Joe at FCSS in hereford. hes abit of a trek but the work is second to non and he'l do alot of little jobs which you never needed doing.

top bloke and to place, also he has the largest stock of parts out of all the coupe specialists
