Ok so I am a 17 year old male driver still with my provisional, I live in Ellon, a small town 16 miles north of Aberdeen and the best quote i have found so far is 1.9k with Admiral. That is for a 1.1 Seicento Sporting Abarth.

Does this sound reasonable or should i keep looking.

P.S. I will stay with Collingwood until i have passed my test i am just looking towards the future :)

Thanks

Is that with a parent added as 2nd driver?

That sounds VERY reasonable! I was in the same situation as you a few months back, 17, no NCB etc etc, the cheapest I could get was £3000, then I tried the I-Kube scheme and got it for £1999. (y) Ok, I if I drive from 11pm to 5am I get charged £60 for that night, but who cares, i'll be in bed by then!

Seriously though, take it!

Yeah that is with my mother who has been driving over 21 years and has a full ncb.

Cheers, i will look at I-Kube and if they are cheaper it sounds like a good plan... only problem is getting the money upfront :p

Bear in mind that it's cheaper to take out a bank loan to cover the cost and pay that over the course of the year than pay in instalments to the insurer as they'll apply mahoosive interest rates, maybe see if your mum'll do that for you, I can't see you getting a £2k loan at 17 yr old ;)

very reasonable, im paying 4k for my 58 plate bravo with endsliegh fully comp, but then I am 21 and do live in a liverpool postcode, just hope to hell it drops before next year, and before anybody asks why im paying that, it was £3.7k for a T reg 1.0l corsa....so I hope you can see my logic :D

I was £580 provisional with Quinn Direct in January, went up to £1600 when I passed. That was 3PF&T with my parents on Punto 1.2 8v.

AB41 is a good postcode, should be reasonably cheap as not likely to have it stolen. 1.1 engine is about as good as they're gonna get for insurance purposes.

Maybe insurance rates have gone up, maybe they don't like it being a sporting model, or maybe I just got lucky.. but I reckon you might find a better deal. Try LV= (lv.com I think), I'm just coming up to renew mine and Admiral etc. were quoting £1300 3PF&T.. LV= are quoting £906 fully comp :D

EDIT: If you're looking at a loan, check APR rate of loan against APR of monthly insurance, may or may not be worth it.

Have you tried all the comparison websites? This is what I did when it came to renewing my insurance. I was thinking about phoning a few as well, though I got some good quotes through the comparison websites. Ended up with a company called Budget Insurance who I am happy with so far.

Just try all the possibilities. Those quotes seem high, though it was a few years a go now when I started out driving.
