Hello everyone

As the title says; when I turn my lights on, the rear window starts wiping.., does someone know what could be wrong and how to get it fixed?

I already tried to find fault codes using a obd2, but nothing shows up
I already disconnected the battery for a while

Thanks in advance

If you have the front wipers on and then put the car into reverse, the rear wiper should automatically activate - it's not this is it?

On UK cars there isn't any lights in the rear hatch, so it shouldn't be a short but in some countries they do have some rear lights in the hatch on some models. It doesn't look like your location is UK so does your car have lights in the rear hatch? If so check wiring for earth issues / short circuits.

No it's not this, when i try to do this it works normally.

When i put my lights on while rear whiper switched off it automatically starts turning. When i turn my lights off the wiper stop.

The dutch fiat forum suggests bad earth, strange because it happened all the of the sudden yesterday.

Hi
I briefly had the same problem, must be 4 or 5 years ago, which occured when it was raining. Never really investigated but seemed to right itself of its own accord. But assumed it was someting to do with water getting where it shouldn't- just lucky i guess cos its usually pretty rare for things to sort themselves on cars.... Sorry, probably doesn't help you much.

Hey Tessie,

I was slightly hopefull when i went to work and the problem didn't accur, but the next day it happend again. So i am out of options to fix it myself, and bring it to the garage. 2 weeks ago i already brought it there and they needed to fix the control unit behind my steering wheel in order to fix my indicators. Probebly they messed up the wiring or something, but since it's my grumpy father in law i get it fixed somewere else instead of complaining.

Greetings,
Max

Some progress,

Went to my father in law's garage, left my stilo for a week. Got a call the problem was fixed after removing errors in ECU, but after one 30 minutes of driving the problem accured again.

So back to the drawing board;

I managed to find all electric scedules for rear window wiper, front window wiper, headlights, brake fluid sensor and ended up with earth point C10 next to the battery.

Unscrewed the bolt and took a look in the small connector box, no damage or corrosion. Bolted it back on, connected the battery and tried on my headlights. So far so good, problem gone :)

So my guess it will accur again, but now i know it is most likely to be a bad earth.
