Basically I have a small Suzuki 4x4 that I am considering swapping in the 899 engine from my crashed chinq.

What I need to know is does anyone know if there is a RWD gearbox to fit easily onto this engine?

Thanks in advance.

Nat

it was just an off chance question in case somebody had built a daft buggy or similar with one of these engines.

I've not got the engine removed (or the car back yet for that matter!)

but I have a selection of LJ80, SJ410 and SJ413 Gearboxes lying around, so we'll see what can be made...

This is if I can get the engine running outside of the car, I presume the ignition key is on a transponder loop for the immobiliser?

I'm gonna end up with a big loom eh?

can't help on the boxes, but if the 899'er is a car with a CODE system then yeah, you'll need the key, transponder ring and codebox from near the steering column.

doesnt the SJ already have an engine around about that size in it, what advantage does the FIAT engine have over the suzuki one?

My Suzuki is actually an LJ-50.

it has a 540cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine fitted to it as standard.

Which does sound awesome - but its being such a pain in the backside at the moment that I'm considering pulling it out and fitting a different motor.

Being as the std engine is 33bhp and the 899 is 39bhp its pretty close, I wanted something light and revvy too, don't come much more revvy than an 899!
Also I have the advantage of it being a "Known" good engine and its free.....

I like the idea of being able to hide the coil packs in the glovebox to keep them dry and the injection system should keep it running at any angle!

some vids of the 2 stroker on my Youtube page www.youtube.com/iamnat666

It'd be a real shame to lose the 2 stroke but the car is unusable without an engine that works properly...

I don't know the answer, BUT, I think the 750 Club have a class in which FIRE engines have taken over from the Reliant sv ones, which calls for RWD and a longitudinal engine. Never had a 899 in bits, but I guess the gearbox mountings are the same..............

Unfortunately the 899 box mounts in a completely different way to an 1108 when it comes to the engine end.

Cheers
