The rears aren't staked, well they aren't on mine. They are one shot nylocks and just need steady pressure with a breaker bar to get them off. and before you ask, 216 Nm, 159lbft.

Cheers

Mine aren't staked either... and yes a braker bar will get them off easy, mine were a piece of cake to get off... It was the drums that were a pain with the bloody wheel locater stub getting in the way and the stupid sizing (should be 11mm... NOPE! not 3/16Whit... not 7/16AF... go figure!!!), in the end i ground it off and stilson'd the nut then threw it away. :D

It should only be the front hubnuts that are staked on Cinqs.

If you don't have a torque wrench then tighten them up and get your local garage to torque them for you... either that or borrow one!

Its a 12mm drive! As is the bolt opposite.

I replaced the bolts on my Cinq with some M8 x 1.25 hex head bolts (the standard 13mm drive), and when the rebuild commences, it'll get those securing all friction on all round.

breaker bar with a 30mm socket helped to get the rear hub nut off in minutes a new nut was about 2 squid from fiat

*cinqjames, damn the sister stays logged in*

IIRC The threads are really tightly packed so they cannot unwind, but then i've never had a problems, so i use the old one if it's in a half decent condition!

I'm saving the planet by recycling my hub nuts! ;)

I would use a drop of threadlock if you insist in reusing your nuts.

hi recently i have been hearing a loud grinding noise comming from back right wheel area from my punto mk1 elx 90 1.6 . this noise only happens when i take corners sharp or fast, then once going straight the noise goe's. got told its the wheel bearing. so yestaday i took all for wheels off and replaced them from 15 inch to 17inch with low profile tyres. now when i drive i can hear the noise costant, even when driveing straight now. i dont think its the wheel rubbing, as all the rest of the wheels make no noise apart from this one.
i had a friend look at it, and he reckons because i have put these 17inch wheels on it has disturb the wheel bearing and now needs replaceing. the noise is horrieble and i cant drive it. well i can, but wont. he also pulled the wheel while it was on, and it was moveing??????/

can anyone help???????? as i know **** all about cars and have been told its exsoensive?????

many thanks

As mase said you need to ask in the punto section really. Defo sounds like your wheel bearings gone.. Not sure how the punto bearings are setup but if its like a cento its really easy, on a cento you just remove the wheel, undo the drum and slide it off (remember you need to not have handbrake on or it'll never come off) might be tricky but will come off easy enough, then undo hubnut (big one in middle) then bearing slides off, replace with new one and fit back together how it came apart, new bearing should come with new hubnut. Took me about 10 mins each bearing, and the bearing was £27.. It might not be that simple though as centos have bearing with integral bearings, if puntos do or not is a mystery to me, but i never seen any like the cento's before.. Get yourself a haynes and get involved mate, its not hard even if its different, just involves taking some more bits off, only way to learn..

PS. you'll need a breaker bar and should torque it with a torque wrench when you replace hubnut, need to check in haynes to what or ask in punto section.

Hope that helps

thanks mate, helped alot. i know i posted in the wrong section, lol, sos. i have asked a thew people now and sounds like its deffinitly the bearing. the noise and where its comming from seem to fit with what happens when a bearing ****ed.

thanks
