Last night the nearside rear wheel went down a huge pothole with a nasty whack. I was only doing 20mph but ever since then the car has been knocking from that corner. I have taken the wheel off and had a look but cannot see anything out of place. Anyone have an idea what might be causing the knock?

Thanks (y)

Check for a dislodged exhaust mount at the rear, the rubber on may have broken or become loose. Then its probably on to suspension bushes, damaged damper or spring. See if the spare wheel or jack have moved free from their original places along with anything else in the boot or underneath. Its a process of elimination really. Simple things first.

I think i found it, top mounting of the damper has alot of movement and the nuts are tight so i assume the rubber's shot.

Great stuff, depending on your current finances and mileage it may be worth replacing the rubbers and dampers on both sides, benefit to ride quality and safety. (y)
