Could somebody tell me please if the same rear abs sensor is used on vehicles that have both drum brakes and disc brakes. Does is make any difference? It is just that I have purchased a sensor online which said was suitable for 2003 115bhp diesel but did not ask what kind of brakes the vehicle has fitted. My vehicle has drum brakes.

Many thanks
Jim

I've repaired rear ABS sensors on both my original (Discs) Multi, and my current one (Drums).
I'm pretty sure they're the same.

What's up with your current sensor?

Thanks for the reply.

I am having a new swing arm fitted next week as it is seriously leaning, and was advised by the mechanic to purchase a new sensor a there is a high possibility that the current one will break trying to get it out. This happened with the other side, so I have ordered one just in case.

I would advise your mechanic to stop wasting other people's money, and just replace the bits that are worn, i.e. the bearings (y)
And if he's a really good mechanic, he'll put grease nipples in the arm for you :p

Sensor will come out OK if it's tapped gently from inside, with the hub off.
