Rear brake Conversion Guide

Rear brake Conversion Guide

Its not on everybodies mind to start writing up guides, its for one, time consuming and two not everyone has a camera to hand when there hands are covered in crap and are doing the work on there own like me.

You've got eper, you've got scottys post and you've got Insy's post to look at pictures of fitting. What more do you want????

Has shaun written a guide to fitting a 1.6 engine? No, i wonder why.

Im not being funny with you guys but in all honesty if you've got the time to write a guide great, i never had no guides to help me but you never heard me moaning at boo members for not helping. Afterall what you did was an amateur mistake. No big deal, turn it round. Help was at hand to advise you it was incorrect. Be greatful, Ash could of said nowt and you'd be non the wiser.

Has shaun ever writen a guide on how to fit a 1.6 emgine, no!

Probably becuase it's not something that many people do, where as the more common, slightly smaller things like this are what people look into.

We have both said thanks for Ash pointing out the mistake with the bracket.... its just a darn shame that Ash's pic wasn't posted in the earlier thread when we asked for some help.....

Shaun was asked to do a guide, obviously the work is not finished yet so there would be no point in producing a time consuming guide yet, hence Shaun posting a brief outline of what was done, details of the engine swap have also been posted within a thread in recent weeks. Feel free to search.

@ Alex - Agreed

i never wrote a guide on the 1.6 conversion because i wasnt on here when i did the conversion.

take a look....

im not saying he has done the wrong thing by helping me out. im not saying on this occasion even, what me and karl are saying is in general.

we mean alot of time people done bother to help overs. if u look through some previous posts, alot of them come up with no replies???

alot of them have to be bumped constantly but still no reply.

Btw, neither me or karl mean any of this in an offending way or out. just pointed out something that not just me and him, but quite a few members iv spoke to have realised.

im always happy to help, always willing to give my 2 pence worth, i know the forum has been quite lately, and cant expect much help if no one is about lol but iv always tried to get it working, putting games up etc makes it more fun

sorry for the miss understanding before it gets out of hand.

Seems i mis interpretted Karls post as he was pointing out people dont help on this forum. I did point out to Shaun to get the washer/ring from a HGT otherwise he'd be scratching his head thinking whys it not fitting properly.

Alex i assume you see a rear disc conversion being something many people do, doubt it mate. I've heard more people talk about swapping engines than asking to change rear discs. Otherwise we'd see many more conversions.

Any way good luck with the guide.

i should have mentioned, insy's post about spot the differences to his car, after he had a visit to Ashe's place,in that thread there was loads of info on the subject and Ash put up loads of picks aswell. That thread was proberbly on the same page as Shauns one on tips they were very close together in time scale, dont know the exact time frames.

As to people not being bothered,to reply and help,im not trying to talk for any body, but most of the guy's on here that know there stuff have been here from day one or a long time, and must have seen and replied a zillion times to the same sort of posts,it must get boring/annoying sometimes, having a go at something, and then show your progress and ask when stuck often gets a better response

And a search would have shown you insy's thread,on the subject, and i think a lot of people would have thought you would do that and find it.

But you have learned it now for yourself, and wont forget it.:)

Oh and was that the wrong washers i sent you?

Cheers Scotty

Is it me Shaun or are you missing a petrol tank and exhaust? :)

Anyhow, I normally like to do guides but didn't on the rear brake conversion as I can't take any credit for mine (Ash was the brains and mechanic for it - I just handed over the money and followed instructions!). Ash did manage to get some pictures off as you can see but its the old chestnut of finding time to write up a step-by-step guide.

I've done 2 in my time, and there's a lot to them.

Looking forward to seeing the end results Shaun.

Insy - my calipers are off an alfa, i got these of Big Al

Lol :)

Be grateful you don't have ABS, it complicates things a little but nothing major.
