Rattling from front right

Have just discovered this forum and have quickly scanned it for this problem, but can't see any postings, so here goes......
I have a 97 1.8 ELX Marea which has developed an ocassional rattling noise from the front right of the car. It occurs primarily at low speeds on uneven roads, but isn't as apparent when going over large bumps (potholes, etc). I've had the wheel off but can't see anything that's loose, and there doesn't seem to be any play in any parts either (although I'm only an amateur, so could be missing something obvious). It's driving me mad, but I don't want to take it to the dealers/garage just yet as I've been ripped off in the past with rattles and noises. I want to have a good idea what it could be first.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I've got the answer to your noise

I know it's far too late to answer your question I just thought this might help someone else in need of advice. I had the exact same noise on my Marea and it almost drove me insane!!!!

It turned out to be the link arm which goes form the anti roll bar to the suspension strut. It is about 200mm long and has a ball joint at either end. On mine the faulty one was quite stiff and difficult to rotate from side to side, whilst the one on the other side was quite free to turn by comparison. A new one cost me £20.00 and the fault was cured immediately.

Just had to laugh

Reading this post and looking at the dates, three questions come to mind.

One, was it the same problem?

Two, has Dave who asked the question, sat here for over a year waiting for an answer ?

Three, did Mark who replied, search back pages and pages, to find the first original post?

Yes I did

Yes I did go back pages and pages. I was looking for any info on ABS problems and since there is no search function (as far as I can tell) you just have to troll backwards, very annoying. When I saw this problem I just had to tell my tale in case anyone else is still suffering the same problem

Re: Yes I did

There was a search function but it didn't work. Unfortunately if I want a search facility, as most people do (it would save time) then I'd have to pay for it in this day of internet companies charging the earth for the slightest thing. Sorry.

If it helps I have been compiling the most important posts from the forum to make up an FAQ / User Guide. It's been a long time coming and other things have got in the way of me doing it, but should be done soon-ish. I hope.

Search Function

Paul

I'm sure if you'd ask nicely someone would do it for free? There are a number of IT people using this forum who would love to help I'm sure. :)
