I gave a friend a lift home from work the other day and it was raining.

As he opened the door and got in the water on his fingers from the door handle got on the grey part of the cloth seat. Next morning the water mark had mostly gone but left a stain around the edges.

Next day was that lovely horizontal rain and I got splashes on the drivers seat when getting out of the car. Same thing again I now have spots on the drivers seat.

Will be cleaning the seats soon and wonder if these stains can be removed. I would hate to see what happened if it was something worse than simple rainwater.

One reason why leather is a good choice. I know that's not helpful for yourself but for someone who's not yet specced their car up it's a valid point.

Very true indeed.

Will see what the cleaning does, just really not in the mood for a cleaning session at the moment.

Try this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_204351_langId_-1_categoryId_165651

Strange  often had rainwater come in and onto car seats but never had staining ...hope the stuff Chris has suggested helps ;)

Thanks for the advice Chris, but I would go for something from AutoGlym over Car Plan stuff as I havent heard a good word said about it and even the people at Halfords steered me away from it.

Do you think you could have been steered away from Carplan as it's cheaper? Halfords assistants aren't really the best people to ask for impartial advice.
If you have a look on some of the nerdy car washing websites (those ones where they call giving their car a good wash "detailing") they seem to argure forever about what products are best. I just tend to buy whatever's available at the best price, but they've probably carried out a full spectrum analysis. They could perhaps suggest something
Alternatively, you could forget all about car products and just get a household upholstery cleaner - Tesco has loads to choose from

Well the AutoGlym is actually cheaper than the Car Plan on Halfords website.

Just a lot of people think AutoGlym is the dogs proverbials

try 1001 upholstery cleaner. you can buy it pretty much anywhere, it's cheap and can be used on pretty much any fabric.
you only have to spray a little bit, dab it in and then it gets rid of most marks.
i don't really see the point in buying cleaners specifically for cars, they're not always as effective.
good luck getting the marks out.

I've used that in the past - its good stuff. Well worth a shot

Oi, you cheeky sod! :p ;)
Detailing involves much more than just a wash!

Actually, I need to give me driver's seat a good clean as it's got mucky from my work clothes :yuck:

When you have got your seats as clean as they are going to get use a spray can of scotchguard to protect them to protect them. Just found 2 500ml spray cans on a popular auction site for £7.99 with £3 postage

It seems so! I've even been considering buying some of that collonite stuff as a result of those sites, so looks like it could be catching!

Anyway, back on topic, Asda had 1001 Mouse, with a built-in brush, for £2 earlier. Sounds a bargain in comparison to some of the alternatives

AG interior cleaner again theres another thread with the same sort of of problem...

and for further information if anyone needs to search in the future get some LTT leather cleaner....its pricey does good job though...just sign up to DW to get some discount to :)

i dont conduct full spectrum analysis on products either i just have alot of stuff...

I found some generic upholstery cleaner in the garage, Vileda I think.

Shake the can spray on the foam wait 30 seconds wipe off.

Hey presto stains gone. It even got the one on the back seat that was there when I got the car, so much for the dealer valet.
