Hi I want to fit a radio aerial to the nearside wing on my 2009 ducato can anyone tell me the best way to run the lead into the cab
Thanks cosworth101

To reduce engine noise holes in the bulkhead were kept to a minimiun.I could only find one for a wiring loom which is behind the drivers side headlamp. This loom is tightly packed but I was assured you could force another wire in but I doubt a coax would fit.
I didn't try in the end.

Thanks for the reply but I'll have to try something as the reception is rubbish as the aerial is fitted in the mirror and it's crap

I use an aerial that's stuck to the inside of the screen, it needs a 12v feed off the back of the radio & an earth. Cost under a fiver off ebay . Only problem is my iPhone charger interferes with it!

How about over the cab by the courtesy light usually easy from an access and removable trim point of view. If you get a nice long fibreglass whip its good height warning too :))

Yes I thought about that too but the motorhome has a overcab bed and it is fibreglass so no earth and no room to fit about the courtesy light but thanks very much for the idea

Lol my brother had a jumbo transit that someone had fitted the antenna to the fibreglass roof, needless to say it didn't work. Motorhomes are awkward alright.

You can push the aerial coax through the same hole in the bulkhead as the bonnet release cable. Then, in the cab, remove the "drinks cooler" compartment and you'll be able to look down and hopefully see the coax. Retrieve the coax and thread it across towards the radio.

Did this on our 2008 Swift Kontiki MH a few months back in an attempt to get a better signal with an external wing mounted aerial. End result was NO change. Things are OK with the engine off but loads of interference with the ignition on. The topic of **** reception is/has been widely discussed on Motorhome Facts & Fyn and Swift Talk. Various suloutions but none that really seem to work.:bang:

Good luck (y)

I'll try anything to get a good reception as when the engine is running it's really bad with interference and its an autotrail apache with the aerial fitted in the door mirror
Cheers cosworth101
