Technical Radio turning on when car locked!

Hi i have a mk2 punto with the stock cd player (high) and it sometimes come on when the car is locked! I have had a look in the owners manual but cant find anything i have took it out and unplugged it for 10mins to see if it resets and i have disconnected the battery for 15mins to see if it resets. I have also looked on the cd player to see if it has the ign time on the menu but dont. Can someone tell me how to sort this and from the top of my head i cant remember if the headunit turned on with the keys out when i bought it. First time i came back to my car i was like where is that music coming from and thought someone was in my car!

The stereo is ignition controlled on early mk2's
later it was canbus controlled, so the main body computer tells the stereo to switch on and off / delay 20mins

Check the wiring behind the stereo to see if there are any signs of been tampered with

I suspect there is something telling it to switch on

Hi if its been happening since you've had the car I would be thinking that the previous owner out an aftermarket stereo in. Then when it came to selling they literally just threw the standard radio in the direction of the hole and didn't bother with any of the wiring .

I would check all the wires against the diagram on the head unit. Or even try a multimeter and see where there is power when the doors are locked

Its never happened before and i owned it 6months thats what puzzled me i gave the power button a good old pushing a few times and it seems to be fine got told the button might of got stuck on.

or its a poor connection - its been arc'in slightly generating carbon which is triggering it

Eitherway - if it continues to cause issues - drop it out, and correctly fit an aftermarket unit

The micro switch which detects a cd being put in wears out and starts to trigger randomly this causes the radio to switch on (thinking you're trying to put a cd in it) you can if you don't use the CD player remove the switch but replacements are impossible to find.

Best bet is to swap the radio for another one either an identical one off ebay or a cheap aftermarket unit

he'll see the stereo trying to laod then if he sat in the car doing nothing
