Hi all, I have a Kenwood factory fitted radio which I want to replace. Question -- how is the trim/surround fitted, is it held in place by the radio? I don't want to use force and risk breaking it but I can't see anything obvious. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for that Steve. I now have an additional query for you if you're up for it! If the surround is held in by the radio does that mean that the side latches aren't used and the radio unit is secured by the rear bolt? I ask because there doesn't seem to be space to get the release tool in to unlock the latches.

Hi Peter. When I removed my non original radio, I bent a couple of bits of wire into two U shaped pieces and was able to insert the four legs simultaneously into the four holes in the radio head unti. This released the radio. On mine, the oval separate fascia came away from the dash with the radio and had no other fixings. I broke it when trying to remove it from the radio. I didnt need it anyway as I was replacing the radio with an original Clarion radio/cassette to maintain originality. I'm not sure if this is any help to you. Check out

Its a thread about Barchetta radio removal. I dont have the actual release keys but I have managed to remove it since with two steel rulers.

And again I can not find in this treat neither the other how to remove the grundig radio from the dash.
Please some more info is appreciated

Hi Bollie. Is this the original Grundig with the four pins holes on the front? If it is, you need to bend some stiff wire into two, U shapes and use these to depress the release clips. All four clip need to be pressed simultaneously. I used a welding rod but I have heard that it can be done with two people and four cocktail sticks. A photo of the head unit might help. Also, if you have a contact at an In Car Entertainment specialist, Halfords etc., they have ALL the tricks needed to remove radios. The pins/clips/barbs etc., securing the head unit are really lightweight and don't need a lot of force to push them to one side.
