Quite likely water has got into the amplified antenna base. Mine's like that. If I can see the Morborne transmitter near Peterborough, the radio is fine. If I drive down to St Neots, 20 miles away, I lose signal.
Theres a lot of work to get the roof lining down to fix it, so only do it if you plan to keep the car.
