Technical Radio Cassette Code

Looking for the code for my radio cassette. I disconnected the battery and haven't got a note of the code, so if anyone can help id be happy to make a donation to the site.

The car is a 2001,y reg punto.

There appears to be 2 numbers starting with BP, and a 'Product Nr Fiat'

Product Nr Fiat: 735 272 569

Also when I turn the radio/cassette on the display says 'WAIT'. This seems to stay on display permanently

It says 'WAIT' because you've tried to enter (guess?) a wrong code too many times. Once you have the correct code, you need to leave the radio switched on with 'WAIT' showing until it shows "CODE" then "----". Then enter the code.

Also, have you any idea how long it takes for the 'WAIT' display to change to 'CODE' as I've had it switched on for more than an hour at one point and it remains the same.

It depends how many times you've entered a wrong code. If only 4 or 5 times, then it will be about 2 hours, otherwise it could be upto 24 hours.

Im sure i tried a few random codes (there were some numbers witten on the inside of the handbook) so do I just leave the radio switched on overnight? won't that flatten the battery.

Your code is: 5222

To enter the code, wait till the display shows " ---- " then press preset button 5 then 2 then 2 then 2. You should not need to press any further buttons to accept the code.
