I've recently had the fortune to become an owner of a well-loved 500;

(I didn't pay quite that much)
He (Max is his name) has had numerous tweaks to the engine/drivetrain prior to import: (namely a 650cc's engine bored out to 82mm, cylinder head flycut to achieve 10:1 compression etc. Lovely stuff (apart from the tablespoon of sand the garage removed from the carb yesterday!)
I've got a couple of questions, which, having scoured the rest of the forum, I couldn't find any answers to. Apologies if these are standard newbie questions.
A) He's got a dynamo fitted, which I gather may or may not be a Good Thing. I ask because the red light flickers if I drive in the dark with headlights on and wipers running. If this is normal, then I won't worry, but if it's a sign that I'm not getting enough juice to the battery, would an alternator be a wise move?
B) My speedo light is a duffer. The Haynes manual draws a blank on how to remove the speedo cover (it's the rectangular kind) - is it just the gentle poking of the two metal tabs underneath the plastic surround and the coaxing out that is required, or will I need to disconnect the speedo cable/wiring under the bonnet beforehand?
C) Can anyone explain the Abarth provenance to me? I've searched the web but am none the wiser. The lady who sold it told me that he's had enough performance tweaks to be badged as an Abarth (which he currently is) but I don't understand quite what makes an Abarth an Arbath. I'd rather badge him properly (All signs point to a 500L)
