Question for a friend

My friend has a Ripspeed DV720 the touch screen flip out 7" monitor. During the day the unit is fine. But when the night closes in and he needs to put his lights on. The stearo screen goes dull and there is a buzzing noise.

I was thinking it could be a lack of power going to the headunit hense the dull of the screen? But he is driving a BMW so surely there would be enough power to power a headunit?

My bet would be the dimmer control. Cars have a system where when the lights are turned on the standard headunit dims to a dull glow. This could be affecting the HU.

The fact that its a cheap rubbish headunit won't help matters, Ripspeed stuff is notoriously bad quality and it could easily be faulty.

Also, earth wires are worth checking.

And FYI, the fact its a BMW makes no difference to how much electrical power the car outputs?

Yeh i know lol Ripspeed is rubbish. I did recomend JVC but wanted the flip out monitor. Cool i will have a look. Thanks for your help

tell him to snip the dimmer control lead.
usually orange and white.
earth the end of the dimmer wire (from car loom) to a black wire anywhere in the loom once cut
