Hi all I'm new to the forum! I was wondering how would you go about putting a cd player into the classic panda. My particular one has the slot where a radio would go, which is a good start, but no speakers as far as i can tell. I'm not looking for a step by step guide as I don't plan on doing much of the work myself. Just a rough idea of how much it would cost.
I know if i went for top quality equipment it could be thousands but all I want is some tunes! So if somebody has a rough idea of how much it would cost ( preferably the cheapest option) it'd be a great help. Thanks

Hi and welcome...easy to fit yourself....Red positive black negative and 2no speaker wires...job done..dont pay someone...get some pod speakers that fit in the hammock at the front like most of us have in our pandas which are easy to get and designed for the panda...(y)

I put a stereo in my Panda, absolute piece of cake. There was pre-wiring behind the blanking plate, if you prise that out on yours you should find a loom with red, yellow and black wires. Red is +12v, black ground.

I bought the speaker pods from blue spot (sadly they have sold out now and don't appear to be re-stocking) for £10 and some 100mm Pioneer speakers from Argos for the princely sum of £8. The head unit is a slot loading Sony that came out of my Golf after I upgraded.

Fitting it all took about 15 minutes (although I've done a few car stereos before so know the drill), it's a really easy job in the Panda. The dash mounted speakers aren't great for bass, but for £18 I'm not complaining. The power feed from the loom behind the blanking plate is permanently on (i.e. isn't switched on the ignition) so you could run the battery down if you leave the stereo fascia on. As far as I'm concerned, this is just an extra incentive to remove the fascia when I park the car and discourage the light-fingered element of society..

Welcome to the forum, good luck with the stereo and enjoy your Panda!

Cheers,

Plug

With a bit of common sense it'll take you under an hour def.

I fitted a new HU, speakers, built a new parcel shelf to hold my 6x9s, all the wiring in what was about 3hrs, building the shelf took over 1hr so it really is that simple! If you get stuck we'll all help you out and i look forward to seeing what you have done!

I have a set of speaker pods if your invested? Il stick them on ebay and send you link. When I can they only have original grundig speakers but very easy to change. :slayer:

Radios in! I have a confession... I decided against doing it myself! I know I should be ashamed but I realized I had no idea how to fit an aerial! Anyway I'll upload pics as soon as I can, it is beautiful! Hey plus just a random point, I'm in Italy at the moment and when I took the car in to get the stereo installed there was no wait for speaker pods or the aerial so obviously the parts are still being made here, might be a good place to check for them online.

Try Ebay in Germany (www.ebay.de) and search for 'antenne fiat panda' Lots of guys on there are selling the original aerial brand new, which goes where the passenger door hinge cover is. I persuaded one shop to send me one to the UK for Euro 35.

Euro 35 is a lot more expensive than £12 new from a UK Fiat dealer though.

Hinge aerial is £12 from your fiat dealer...(y)
