I recently went to a Fiat showroom and they told me that all Fiat 500's had to be sold with the Pure guard paint protection at a price of 300quid. I am pretty sure this is nonsense and Fiat aren't allowed to force you to buy extra paint protection, but does anyone know if 'Pure Guard' is any good and should I haggle a cheaper price?

I wouldn't bother they are trying to rip you off never seen Pure guard 1/2 the time it doesn't seem to be applied properly if at all

cant go far wrong when you first get the car Polishing it with Autoglym super resin polish 350ml for about £6 and 2 coats of Collinite wax £20ish good for about 20 cars and is billed to last a year so for under £30 you can give the car some real TLC that will probably last longer than the £300 special coating...

i am a veleter and if these products are applied properly then they are brilliant and usually you get a warrenty for your paintwork against certain damage for about 3 yrs but most cars are cleaned by people who dont care cause its not theirs, i know that these products are usually bought by dealer at around 20 % of cost price if you know anyone in the business get them to buy it and apply it for you, even if you pay them a bit you will save yourself a ton !!!!!

but because a non Pure guard accredited Detailer has applied the stuff you wont get a warranty for your trouble...

if you really want to go down the Pure guard route look on E-bay you can pick up a kit for next to nowt such as these from Ebay (im not the seller before anyone thinks im poaching)

the only stuff regularly recommended from the kits is the interior textiles sealant (think scotch guard)

but you can get a can of it from halfords and even a friendly furniture shop they get it by the gallon for 3 piece suites and get the chemicals for sweet FA in reality the expensive bit is the Certificate for the warranty...

As for warranty on the paint work read all the small print it generally covers chuff all and has exclusions such as damage caused by Bird droppings and stone chips and industrial fall out so what is the warranty actually covering??

i used to work for citroen and they used a product called supagard this was really good i have used it on mine, supagard covers damage from bird droppings and sunlight fade for three years not sure what else also the interior protection from supagard is awesome it stops liquid from penetrating the fabric for about 15 mins which is more than enough time mop up, this stuff works has stopped my seats bein soaked in coke and stuff on more than a few occasions, the full kit cost 35 quid but they charged customers 270 for the sevice
