From an unbiased point of view (I've had several of each). The Punto is a vastly superior car to the Uno. When the Mk2 Uno was replaced by the Mk1 Punto it was a step forward in terms of quality, reliability, comfort, interior build quality, space, ergonomics, etc, etc.

In it's day the Mk1 Uno was a class leader just as the MK1 Punto was when new, but the Mk2 was very long in the tooth by the time it was replaced. I have an affection for Unos as my first car was a 1984 Uno 45, but as a realisitic option today the Punto is the one to go for.

The Punto looks better but stick with the Uno for now. Worry about it once you have a license. The Uno is a great 1st car and once you have more experience you might find you want something else again.

Re: Keep the Uno

yeah im pretty set on keeping it now, havin a word with my dad im probably going to finish off the bits n bobs on it and keep it until feb 09 nd then flog it to a younger mate who wants it for a good price ;)

what engine has the uno got? you'll find you learn more about actual driving in an older car than a newer one but the modern cars are more comfortable, reliable which you'll want after a while. what features has your uno got? eg powersteering, abs etc?

i dont think it has PAS or ABs n stuff, its pretty basic 1L but it'll do for me. When im 18 im thinking of a cinq or punto and sell my uno to a mate tht will be 17 for £600 lol
hes sounds chuffed :D

 lol
well if i could sell it i would but its no where near finished, theres body filler everywhere. and i dont think anything is properly fitted yet :bang:
Ive got alot of work to do before december and i only work on it ever 2 weekends:cry:

Ive driven quite a few cars and trucks oldest though was a SIII Landy we had and ive driven a 944 and a few modern cars - lagunas, Jeep cherokee and stuff :yum:

I don't really know the quality you get in Europe. In South AFrica, the Uno has outlasted most cars.
I own a Grande Punto and an Uno 1100. They ar eboth great, yet different vehicles.

The Punto is my family cruiser, be it a 1.2 It gets around as quick as it needs to an dis very comfortable.

The Uno is now like my personal rally car. It goes like a bomb and is fun to drive. Both are really nice, but my preference is for the Punto cos I am too tall fo rthe Uno.

Punto have same engine as uno but uno is lighter, and so its faster and accelerate better
my vote goes to uno
