Technical Punto Timing *HELP*

Im fitted a new timing belt and tensioner to a mk2 punto 8v, i have set it to tdc, matched the marks of the new belt to the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. tightened the tensioner the turned the engine over by hand, when the marks come back around the are completly out.

You need to go round twice to get them to line up.

Crank turns twice for every revolution of the cam.

OK, then its not right.

Reset it again, does the new belt have the timing marks on it?

yes its got marks

were the timing marks still aligned after you tensioned the belt? I changed mine a while back and didnt hold the cams in place when tensioning, and othe top cam rotated about three cogs worth. It was a real pain, but the timing marks have to be aligned after the tension.
