General Punto Sporting Purchase

Hello folks, looking for some advice/info.
Going to view a punto sporting 1.2 - 99 plate this week, can anyone give me some pointers in what to look out for with regard to common faults/problems with these models?
The mileage is 56k and the price on the forecourt is £1095 which seems fairly reasonable for the car's condition.
Any info appreciated.

airbag warning lights, or any warning lights staying on, EPAS (Power steering red warning light), general common sense i.e paintwork condition in line with mileage, Head Gasket (look for Mayo under oil cap) smoke exhaust excessive etc., erm...good price compared with mileage but most of it is common sense tbh....

I bought my Punto in October 2007, Sporting 05 plate and it too has the airbag light on.

If I change the airbag setting, it goes to show the other one.

But turning it back to normal it does not go away.

Electrics have never been the best in these cars.

you need to go to dealer to get it sorted as it sounds like a faulty a switch

on a 99, its either well over due its cambelt or due its 2nd cambelt change.

Thanks for the advice guys, i'll ask about the cambelt when i go and see it.
Is the cambelt the main cause when it comes to the head gasket going or is that a timing belt fault?

no not usually if the timing belt is mistimed then it screws up if its not done with it being a 16v it ends up with bent valves and a nice large repair bill..HG is mainly due to not been driven nicely i.e from cold and not treated well ...most of the time if it happens at low mileage...
