I have a Punto Sporting 2002.Some wolly in a white van clipped me on a narrow country Lane earlier today and the result was a smashed drivers door mirror. The casings ok so I went to my local dealer today to pick up a new mirror. Got the old one off ok but really struggling to put the new one on. I was not sure if it should just clip into the round frame within the casing or if I have to remove this, put the mirror on and then put the whole lot back in??

Anybody done this?

From the Haynes- (I dont think this is helpful, but worth a try)

"Where applicable, reconnect the wires to the rear of the mirror glass, then push the glass into position to engage the securing clips"

Thats all it says for refitting, how crap???!!!

I dont think you need to bother taking the whole wing mirror off, its easily done but unneccessary :)

Hope this helps

Oh and welcome to the forum :D

Thank you for this, I will give it a go again tomorrow, sounds like I just need a bit of brute force and ignorance! I may invest in a Haynes. Had the car from brand new - bought it as an import, it's my pride and joy - don't like it when its not all in one piece!

:p
