Been looking for some new speakers for the Punto since the factory ones are pretty poor. Looking at replacing the front speakers and adding rear ones.

Found these on eBay, but I'm not really clued up on technical specs for speakers - do they look decent for the money?

Front - JVC 16cm / 6.5" 210W:

Back - JVC 10cm / 4" 160W:

Would have posted nice links, but not quite got 5 posts yet! :p

Cheers

For the Back speakers that set you mention would work well, but the front speakers are Component speakers (i.e. there is 2 parts) you will notice that you have the large speaker at the base of the door, but just under the mirror adjuster on the door, there is a small grill, This is the space for a very small Tweeter (this provides the higher notes, whilst the Larger Speaker provides the bass and the mid range. Overall this gives you a better quality and range of sound. have a search for Car Audio Security.com. The have a great range of component speakers on there. The size is in cm so you would be looking at 17cm (well 16.5 according to fiat).
I have fitted these into the doors of my mk2 "Alpine: SXE-1750S" they look great, and sound brilliant. No distortion at high volumes, so they suit an audiophile like me very well.
I wouldn't say go out and buy those exact speakers but that is the sort of thing you would be looking for

Cheers guys! :)

Will the stock tweeters work ok with a 40W head unit (think the original is 22W?) or should I replace those too?

There you go links added.
I would up your budget and get some components. Those speakers are unlikely to make an improvment. Standard speakers are more sensitive so dont need a lot of power to get them working. Aftermarket speakers generally need a bigger amp and not just the small difference of adding an aftermarket HU.

The stock tweeters will take an aftermarket HU's amp with ease though, but the standard ones are extremely lame. You would be better of adding aftermarket tweeters than just replacing the mid bass with coaxile speakers.

I'm a poor student you know :p how much of a difference to the budget are we talking? Bearing in mind I'm not looking for a godlike sound system or anything, just something a bit nicer than the factory ones. Especially in the bass department.

So my 40W head will be quieter on aftermarket speakers than on stock?

Ok, do the tweeters need to be matched to the mid bass speakers in any way - ie. power, impedance etc?

Hmm could be interesting. What was your opinion of them?
