yeah , i used a thin flat head screw driver to get it off ,
Yes, they do just pop off, bit tough though, and hard to get your fingers round, so as suggested above use a flat head screw driver

i dont mean the speaker cover i mean the full thing as it looks like i will come off but im not 100%. im wanting to make up a set of speaker pods for my comps to show them off a little bit!! So it wuld be alot easyer to take them off then FG some backing moulds then trying to do them while they are still in the car!

Well yeh it looks possible, only because the guy selling probably took the door card off to do it.

Yes you do need to take the whole door card off.
It is secured to a pocket which is then secured to the door card, so the only feasable way to take it off is to remove the whole door card.
Its really not that hard, take you about 5-10 minutes and theres a guide in the guides section to do it, under how to remove outer door handles
You can buy already made speaker adaptors that can house 6.5" speakers http://www.celsusice.co.uk/product_details.aspx?Product_code=SA0373-165

may be dumb but do those surrounds increase mounting depth at all.
or is there a way to mount deeper speakers and use the surrounds so you don't have to build your own?

Yes you do have to take the door cards off 5 min job!! going to hopefully start them this weekend comin when my glue guns arives!! see what so of look i can get with them!!!
