Punto Mk2b Tweeter Help?

How do i change them? (Purchased aftermarkets)

I haven't tried taking the door off as some plonker has rounded off the bolts within the door handles. Can't trace the tweeter wire through the loom as it probably merges with the bass speaker right?

Help would be great, annoying fiddling around with wires for hours:bang:

pretty sure they ave a connector on them.....

Im not sure if them also have there own wiring to the multiplug on the door....

I'm looking for kind of the same answer, will new tweeters fit easily where the standard ones are positioned? I've bought some JBL GT6-6C's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160860911503

Are the new tweeters bigger?

If so they probably won't fit because the current Punto tweeters fit really snug behind the grill.

Ahh right I see. Well i'm not sure yet as they haven't arrived, should be here tomorrow though so I will have a look if I have time after work. The woofer has a mounting depth of 53mm, do you know if this will fit? I've ordered some SAK-1400 adapter rings just incase but they don't arrive till next week. So if I can fit them straight in I would rather do that than wait because i've been looking forward to upgrading my speakers lol.

Only put the door speakers in, big improvement but would sound a hell of a lot better with the tweeters to match.

That's a relief I thought I would have had to do something major to fit the tweeters in.

Not sure if you caught the wrong end of the stick

The speakers were simple as pie to fit, i didn't fit my tweeter because they were a major pain.

They should fit somewhere, but the wiring is the issue because i didn't have time to remove my door cards, find the correct wires, cut, re-wire etc.

When you said about drilling the holes bigger, did you mean for the tweeters?

It all arrived today including the adapters so I will be trying to install it over the weekend.

Yes, the tweeter housing pops off and the tweeter just sits behind the grill among some plastic pins to hold it in place, as the grill and pins are a sealed unit (attached to the housing) and cannot be removed you may have to drill the grill off and have the tweeters showing through your drilled hole.

Don't drill anything unless you know the tweeter will fit nicely there, if it doesn't, find a new place to put them. As your speakers come with the tweeters, there will be a recommended maximum distance of how far apart to place tweeters.

My tweeters came with adhesive double sided tape so they wouldn't necessarily have to be placed where the current ones are and possible on the dash or near the foot well but experiment with them plugged in so you can see where it produces the best sound.

I'm no expert so don't do what i say word for word as i don't want to be responsible if something messes up

Lastly ... if you really cannot work it out try phoning Halfrauds, or your local I.C.E specialist and see how much they will charge for fitment

I didn't use the crossovers for my woofers. Here is what i did ...

1. Remove grill plastics

2. Remove stock woofers

3. Cut wires

4. Put on new spade terminations from Halfrauds, make sure you know what size you need! I bought a speaker specific set which had 4 sets of spades of a few different sizes

5. Plugged up new speakers

6. Re-fitted grill etc

7. Done

Note: I had to drill new holes into the woofer housing so they would fit into the current screw holes.

Thanks for the advice by the way. I've got them installed now finally, it was a long day yesterday since was my first time doing it. Had to use 3 washers so the speaker wouldn't touch the window when wound down.

In case you do decide to get tweeters, i fitted mine in by cutting away at the clips that hold the stock one in until there was enough depth for them to fit in. Then i just glued them to the inside of the trim. Worked a treat.

If there is any way you can change your tweeters i would definitely recommend it as i can now see how bad the stock ones really are. Obviously i haven't got the 'best' speakers but its still such an improvement

Well mine are a component set, is that what you have? So mine came with wires that split off for the woofer and the tweeter from a main input wire. All i did was attach these to the original wire that went to the mid woofer. I cut the wires of the stock tweeter near the tweeter and tucked them down into the door card in case i wanted to revert back to stock.

Not sure if that's the best way of doing it but the speakers work so im guessing its ok to do that.
