Hey everyone. I was just wondering if you guys would be able to help me out with a few price things.

My parents are considering selling the car they have and getting two cars instead. (My dads going to be loosing his company car in a few months) At the moment they have a Y Reg Vauxhall Astra Coupe 2.2i 16v

If they do sell i want at least one of the cars to be a Fiat. But the problem is my moms picky and will only have a car that looks "sporty" So i have decided to try and convince them to get either a Punto 1.8 HGT or a Punto 1.9 JTD HGT. How much do you think id be able to get one of them for?

:yeahthat:

If memory serves me right they didnt do a HGT in the mk2.5 but you can get the JTD (sorry Im not up to scratch with the models so I could be wrong).

But I know you can pick up a nearly new base model mk2.5 for under £4k cuz I paid £4k for my mk2.5 Active bk in October 05 :)

Gd luck mate, hope you convince the old dear that Fiat is the only way to go :D

Yeah they do the HGT...well according to the what car magazines from june 2005 - jan 2006 say.

This is the type im on about (I always call it mk3 but i guess its called mk2.5 on here)

I love the front headlights. Thats what makes me like it so mutch. The front and back lights. I like the mk1 but i absolutly cant stand the mk2. I really am not keen at all, but the facelifted mk2.5 is absolutly gorgeous!:yum:

Not many people would agree with you on that one mate but Im on your side, I wouldnt have brought a mk2b if I didnt like the look of it :D

No it has to be fast too. My dad would use it as well and hes a speed freak (scares the hell out of me) and my mom has been driving that astra coupe 2.2 16v for about 3 years now and i think stepping down to an engine that small just would take the fun out of everything.

Her first car was an Escort 1.6 i think. Then it was a Corsa 1.4 SRI and now the Astra coupe.

I think if it were the punto the smallest she would go for would be the 1.4i 16v sporting but she would need a hell of alot of persuading for an engine that small. I would want them to get the 1.9 JTD HGT though.

So you guys think id be able to get one for around 3K then?

i dont think you could get a mk2.5 for 3k they too new for that, even at fiat depreciation it wont be that cheap

you could possibly get a mk2 hgt for that, am not sure if they do a diesel verion of that though

who said the front looks bad? ;)

you'll not get a good MK2.5b 1.9 HGT for anything under £7000+ (I didn't!) don't think they did the 100bhp multijet prior to the 2.5b, so looks like an older petrol if u want that HGT badge. The 1.4 Sporting goes well (looks almost the same) prolly over 5k for a year-18month one though?

:worship: Yeah i think the highest they will pay is around 5 - 6K

And the picks of that punto Irv! My favorite colour for the 2.5 is black! Makes me wanna melt, with its sheer hotness lmao

tis nice eh!:D

bit off the subject, but whatever your folks do, don't even let them anywhere near a freekin' Mini!!!! they may look cute (a matter of debate!) but I test drove a 4 year old cooper with 33k on the clock before getting the HGT....the Mini was a wreak!....there was an mini dealer report in the glove box that said it needed new rear suspension, struts were gone, leaking water in the rear boot and the something had gone in the steering too...it drove like a dog and had about as much grunt as a lame pup....the Punto was a better deal a MUCH better car and I have no regrets.....there's plenty of deals on sportings/active sportings around, you should get a nice recent black one for 5-6 grand easy.

I have to agree the mk2.5 is a good looking car in the sportier models. I have a 1.4 Sporting in Steel Grey (see my pics) which I think suits the car to a tee, and the performance is pretty impressive for a small engine too, as long as you're keen on revving it frequently (I am!). Also the Sporting has a 6 speed 'box which is fun to use and helps keep the revs high whilst accelerating thro' the gears.

oooooo 6 gears! always wanted to try that lol. Nah sorry 1.2 is too small for them. My dads a speed freak with a death wish and my moms pretty normal but needs the power for some odd reason.

Its horrible though. With my 1.2 16v brava i agree it is u underpowered but when i really work it hard its a beast! but then they go and drive it and all they can say is "This has go no power at all!" & "Theres nothing in this! There no poke at all!" oh and "This doesnt like corners does it" (just thought id add that last one on) :bang:
