I have a 1999 Fiat punto mk1 1.3 60sx its my first car and i really want to make it a project :)
Im wondering if any of you guys could tell me what i could do to it i will list the things ive already done,
1.Extended the bonnet to give it the eyebrow look and got a fibre glass add-on and vents
2.removed the badges off the boot
3.Fitted a nice back box onto the exhaust
4.fitted a K&N air filter
5.re-sprayed the front interior ie.door armrests door pockets wing mirror covers, centre console and the hole dashboard.
I just cant think of what i can do other than add a bodykit and lights but one thing i do want to know is how i can make the exhaust sound nicer and maybe get a few pops out of it.
Is there any websites where i can get stuff from and maybe look at other punto's to get idea's from?
thanks in advance :)

1. Check that the beam pattern of your lights is still legal
2. Fine
3. Any particular backbox? Some work better with these engines than others. Basically, if it sounds raspy, it is doing good. If it just sounds like the manifold has fallen off, if it not maintaining backpressure sufficiently, so your engine underperforms.
4. OK for under-bonnet looks and noise, just don't expect power gains.
5. What paint did you use and how was the surface prepared? Thermal expansion can cause paint to flake off. WhiteSei published a thread in a post recently with regard to getting paint to stick.

No, you have a 1.2, not a 1.3. Fiat were clever when they built this engine, and made it 1242cc, which puts it an insurance group lower than the KA which only has a few more cc, but gets classed as a 1.3. The funny thing is, the Ford engine develops less power than the smaller Fiat, which probably has something to do with engine technology derived from a Ford Anglia. Probably also explains why the new KA is basically a Fiat 500 in drag, because Fiat are the experts at the small car market.

Anyway, I digress. The first thing I would be looking at are alloy wheels with decent tyres. These transform the look, the handling and the safety of the vehicle, certainly the best smiles per £ of any modification I've done. As for your exhaust, sound is so personal that I cannot possibly advise on a particular backbox. You are much better off going to a custom stainless fabricator and explaining what you want from an exhaust. Many places will do backboxes for less than £100, cat-back systems for less than £200. As for pops and bangs, forget about it. Since fuel injection, over-fuelling to produce such an effect would require extensive knowledge of the ECU engine management system. You would probably require a customisable ECU such as Megasquirt to do so. Mega £££s, and they don't even build the wiring harnesses for you.

For the paint i just used the normal rattle cans but like i said the paint came out great as for preparing i took what i took off what i could and washed them all then scotched all the panels then washed them again to get all the dust off then sprayed them, then flatted them again added the laquer then buffed them :) i havent had any chips or flaking of the paint :)
Also thankyou for your advice!
