My 99 model 60s has tickover problems when hot. When started from cold it is fine but after it has reached the normal temperature the tickover starts to vary by +/- about 100-200 revs. I took it to the local Fiat dealer who quickly stated that it would be the Lambda sensor and replaced it. Although the car seemed better, the problem is still there although not as severe. Sometimes it is OK but then once the tickover starts to fluctutate it just gets worse, like the engine is trying to compensate but overshooting. The car has yet to stall, although I think that it must be triggering the anti-stall sensor.

I'm tempted to think that it must be a sensor type issue as it is temperature related. I might end up taking it back to the dealer, but don't have much confidence in them. Can anybody offer any advice?

Thanks

Is your car using water? Head gasket could be gone, sounds stupid but it COULD have gone. Sometimes if a cars head g. has gone it ca have irratic revs. Fill the level to full let it bubble through and see eif it pressurises. If everything is ok then just mark the bottle for the water level then see if it uses water, if this proves unsuccsessful then prob should b sensors/ My dads oldr did that (punto Active X reg, And we managed to trace it to the electronic foot pedal, it used to make it run like it was only using half its valves!
