Hi there, I don't know what the average is with these little Fire engines but 52k is really low for a MK 1, I've a MK 1 60s myself which I got at late 70K and it's now 83K.
My 60s isn't amazing by any standard but it's not appalling, from what I understand so far the later 60s's had the 866 cam, it's referred to as this because that's what's printed on it, many say a better cam and if my memory serves me correct it provides more mid range power.
You could remove your cambelt cover if you feel competant enough and look to see which camshaft is fitted, ifyou haven't the 866 then this could well be an option for you, some state it adds 6hp, whilst not a lot, every little helps, right?
Other options are porting the throttle body, doing this may require a bigger butterfly valve.
A service may help, another option that you may want to look into is checking that the timing is accurate, I have found that going by apex markings near the crank, doesn't always result in tdc, timing could be retarded, whoever changed the timing belt on my car didn't do a very good job, and it was out.
Timing is easy to check and set, just familiarise yourself with where the markings are on the cam shaft, and the flywheel / bell housing, (you will need a mirror and a torch most probably) if timing is accurate then you can out rule that, if not, get it set properly.
There's also talk of using another ECU from one of the other Fiats, but you'd have to search that up because I forget which way round it is and what the results are. I think the short of it is that the ECU isn't as limited as some of the others are, it COULD be a 1.1 ECU but don't hold me to that.
There's also options of the P75 manifold and down pipe that's deemed less restrictive, fairly direct fit unsure if any modifications would be required,
Other than that you could possibly fit a 6 speed gearbox, (shorter gear ratios?)
P75 engines amd perhaps some 16v heads / engines would fit but not without modifications like wiring loom, ECU, etc.
