I have owned a 1999 Punto 60 SX Mk 1 since 2000. I had to replace the battery last week and of course the radio / cassette stopped working. On the invoice for the car is marked 'Radio PIN 8633'. As there are only 6 presets on the radio how do I enter this code or is it wrong as it is not a number from 1111 to 6666.

It has been suggested to me that one enters 8 by pressing preset 1 eight times and so on. However, when I press preset 1, a zero appears in the display, when I press it again a second zero appears and so on. When four zeros have appeared the message WAIT appears and nothing happens until CODE appears again.

Having seen other posts, I used the wire tools to extract the radio and I found that there are none of the labels bearing the magic numbers which can be used to retrieve the code from various commercial websites and someone on this forum. There seems to be some evidence that labels might have been there once, but the only number I can find is one that it impressed into the side of the radio.

What's the answer?

Thanks.

PS Does anybody know where I can get a copy of the manual for the radio cassette. It was taken from the car once when it was serviced, possibly to enter the radio code after the battery had been disconnected. Needless to say, the manual was not replaced and has disappeared.

In case it may assist others - I have found the answer. My radio / cassette is a Philips and they can have a code which is outside the range 1111 to 6666.

The code is entered by pressing pre-set 1 and a zewro appears in the display. Enter the first number of code by pressing the radio tuning up (or +). When the correct number appears, press pre-set 1 again and a second zero appears in the display. Enter the second, thrid and fourth digits of the code in the same way and finish with pre-set 1. A second later the radio will come to life again. I entered my code of 8633 and it worked.

Still looking for an owner's manual for the radio!
